Coyle Treepieces

The first thing you want to do is get your deposit in.  This holds your place in the queue.  Each helmet is made in order and to order.

It is great to provide as many details and questions as you have when you put down your deposit. There is a space available for "comments" when you order.   What type of wood do you want?  Are you interested in any special shaping or venting patterns?  What is your head measurement?   etc.

Extra costs:

Generally custom work and "exotic" woods will add cost to the piece.  If you want our Douglas Fir standard material there is no extra fee.

  • Maple (light/medium color) $70
  • Myrtle (light/medium color) $85
  • Madrone (medium/dark color) $85
  • Black Walnut (dark color) $110
  • Cherry, Ash, Elm, and other hardwoods are priced according to availability, just ask.  Generally hardwoods add $70-$140
Figured Hardwoods (burls, bunions, curly figure etc.) start at $250 extra.  This may seem like a lot to folks not familiar with woods.  Alternatively, if you work with wood yourself you might have material that would work just fine.  In either case, If you can get something you like for cheaper and send it to us we are happy to work with you that way.

Custom venting generally adds $25 to price and custom brim shaping and profiling adds $15 in most cases.

If you want a laminated wood helmet the cost of the wood can sometimes be a little less as it is easier to source smaller pieces of material.  The lamination process can be simple or complex depending on what you are looking for.  Lamination fees generally start at $25 for simple work.

Feel free to haggle with us a little.  The materials are organic and so the way we price them reflects that.  If something doesn't work for you we can help you find another solution.  There is a lot of choices in both the customization and the wood types.  We don't want that to overwhelm.
